Julia Chan Mei Mei

Julia Chan Mei Mei was admitted to Tanjong Katong Secondary School in January 2004 to pursue the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ level course.


Learning Aptitude & Attitude

Julia was a diligent and self motivated student who displayed a strong commitment to her studies throughout the time she was with us. She worked consistently and was within the top 10 positions academically in her class from Secondary 1 to 3. Her strong command of the English Language and English Literature enabled her to win the prize ’’Best in English Literature” in Secondary 3. She was also chosen to represent the school in the Victoria Junior College Inter-school Humanities Quiz.in the same year. She has a good record of attendance and punctuality and consistently persevered to improve her results.

Personal Attributes

As the assistant vice-chairperson in 2007, Julia performed her duties responsibly and has been able to use her amiable and friendly personality to gain the trust of her teachers and peers. A reliable and co-operative team member, she worked well with the other members of the class committee to ensure that activities involving the class ran smoothly. Her selflessness is also shown in her willingness to share out any extra work load given to the class committee. Being strong academically, Julia shows her caring nature by willingly helping her classmates when they faced obstacles in their academic work.

Julia is also keen and passionate about helping the needy and had participated in activities like the teaching of arts and crafts to young children. She can be relied upon to have a task entrusted upon her carried to its completion, thus winning her the trust of her teachers and peers. Possessing initiative and organizational skills, she has also exhibited a natural flair for leadership and was thus chosen by her peers and teachers as Assistant Class Chairperson in Secondary 4.

Given her willingness to face new challenges and her other positive attributes, Julia has the potential and qualities to do very well academically in higher education. She will certainly be able to make significant contributions to whichever field she decides to embark upon after finishing her education.

Edmund Tay

Edmund Tay Jian Wei was admitted to Tanjong Katong Secondary School in January 2004 to pursue the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level course.

Learning Aptitude & Attitude

Jian Wei was a diligent and self-motivated student who displayed a strong commitment to his studies throughout the time he was with us. He had a good record of attendance and punctuality and consistently persevered to improve his results. He was willing to clarify his doubts when he met with difficulties in his academic work and showed keen interest in doing well. He was especially strong in Mathematics, obtaining very good results consistently.

Personal Attributes

Jian Wei has a friendly personality, and is respectful to his teachers. His loyalty to his Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) and leadership potential is reflected in the many camps and leadership courses he had attended and his role as Assistant Administrative Head of the National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC). The service which he rendered to the school and NPCC resulted in him being given a Service Award for his contributions in 2007. His caring nature is also demonstrated by his active participation in voluntary activities organized for charitable organizations.

Jian Wei was also able to relate well with both his classmates, his peers and juniors in his CCA. A helpful student, he played an active role in helping the class committee members handle class administrative matters.

A mature and conscientious student, Jian Wei will undoubtedly be able do well in whichever field he decides to pursue.

Janice Fong Si Ting

Janice Fong Si Ting was admitted to Tanjong Katong Secondary School in January 2004 to pursue the Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level course.


Learning Aptitude & Attitude

Janice was a diligent and self-motivated student who displayed a strong commitment to her studies throughout the time she was with us. She was very focused in class and was a conscientious worker. She had a clear sense of purpose in achieving personal targets and goals. Being a highly disciplined student, she was willing to put in much time and effort in ensuring that her academic results were of a consistently high standard.

Personal Attributes

Janice is also a good team player who displays a strong commitment to her Co-Curricular Activities (CCA), Netball. She was in the school team and had displayed perseverance to hone her skills in this sport. Her loyalty and dedication to the CCA is reflected in her active participation in many inter-school competitions. She is able to strategise and plan ahead and had shown support to her team members in times of need.

An optimistic, sporty and sociable student, Janice gets along well with her peers in class as well as members of her Netball team. Her maturity and good social skills are reasons why she had done well in both her academic studies and CCA.

Given her willingness to face new challenges and her other positive attributes, Janice has the potential and qualities to do very well academically in higher education. She will certainly be able to make significant contributions to whichever field she decides to embark upon after finishing her education.
